American Association of Suicidology - Site includes a variety of resources for survivors, including suggested books and support groups located throughout the country.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention offers a guide,“Surviving A Suicide Loss: A Financial Guide” that includes lots of helpful information for survivors.

For referrals to mental health professionals in the Denver metro area, Second Wind's Counselors Corner page includes our list of 90 highly recommended mental health therapists. You may also contact the American Psychiatric Association at 1-888-357-7924 or the American Psychological Association at 1-800-964-2000.

The Brighton Heartbeat Group meets monthly at the Platte Valley Medical Center the first Saturday from 10:00 to 11:15 am and the third Monday from 6:15 to 7:30 pm. Call 303-659-6743 for more information.  

Children’s Grief Education Association, Navigating Children’s Grief – CGEA is dedicated to serving the needs of grieving children and families and to providing education and support to those who serve them. The Compassionate Friends – Grief support after the death of a child with chapters throughout the country.

The Dougy Center (the National Center for Grieving Children and Families) publishes resources for helping children and teens who are grieving the death of a parent, sibling, or friend. Call 1-503-775-5683 for assistance.

Enoch4Ever Ministries is a Christ-centered support group for victims of suicide. This group meets on the second Tuesday of every month.  For more information, contact Vicki Emmons at 303-388-2336 or enoch4everministries@yahoo.com.

Fierce Goodbye, a faith-based perspective on suicide, offers a multitude of resources for survivors.

Friends and Families of Suicides is an e-mail support group. Contact arlynsmom(at)alltel.net to join.

Heartbeat Survivors After Suicide – offers grief support after the suicide of a loved one or friend.

  • The North Metro Heartbeat Group meets monthly the first Tuesday at 7:00 pm at the 2nd floor cafeteria conference room at Exempla Lutheran Medical Center, 8300 W. 38th Avenue in WheatRidge, CO.  Katie Ford, MA, LPC, 303.755.2679 or kford(at)idcomm.com is the facilitator for this group.
  • The South Metro Denver Heartbeat Group meets monthly the second Tuesday at Littleton Adventist Hospital, 7700 S. Broadway at 7:00 pm.  Jan and Bob Burnside are the facilitators for this group.  They may be reached at 303.770.1859 or bobandjanb@q.com.

Horan and McConaty, a local mortuary, also offers the HeartLight Center which includes information about various groups and programs in the Denver metro area that offer grief support. 

Judi's House's mission is to help children and families, grieving the death of a loved one, find hope and healing within themselves.  They offer a variety of services for children and families with grief issues.  Those services include a bi-weekly Families Grieving Suicide group and a teen peer support group.  They're located at 1741 Gaylord St. in Denver and can be reached at 720.941.0331. 

The Kirwan-Carr Foundation provides support to people who have experienced the suicide attempt of a loved one.

Parents Surviving Suicide – This Denver metro area group meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm at the Bethany Lutheran Church, Room 210, 4500 E. Hampden Avenue. They do not have a website at this time. For more information, contact:
